Entry 10: Ecspirience of using Power Point

Not so long time ago I had to do a work which concerned the using of Power point. I was quiet confused, because I had never done something like that before.I had no time to wait for a miracle that would come from the sky, so I decided to ask my brother to give me a piece of advice.Unfortunatley, he had no time for helping me, so he just showed me everything very quickly. He showed me how I should make a slide show, animation, changing the colour of the background and many other things. If honestly, I was relly scared, because I was a novice at working with this program and was scared of doing something wrong. However, when I had finished with the first slide I realized that everything is very simple and remembered the proverb: "the devil is not so black as it painted".Eventually,I liked that program and even started to surprise my brother with my abilities in working with it. Now I want to study how to creat games in help of that program and I really think that it will be also a very interesting process:))))))

Entery 9: Time management problems

Many students all over the world face a problem called "time management". Writing essays, doing home works and preparing yourselves for the QUIZ-es makes teenagers very devastated and unable to work. They spend lots of time doing multiple exercises or doing nothing at all, and after that they realize that they had not prepared themselves for the Mid-term. AAAAAA! This would be the 1-st thing that you hear. The point is that most of us do not know how to manage our time. Lots of work can confuse us and take our attention from what is really important to do in the closest future time. For example, if you have a Quiz for Linguistics on Monday, you should practice every day for at least 15 minutes to remember the terminus, sequences of the phrases and you will be well prepared. Also, making weekly calendar with daily calendar can teach you to manage your time in preparing for something important like presentation. To add, checklists could be useful in marking of what you have done and what you need to do. Also, if you’re making a presentation, try not to do everything in a rush. Gather it, organize it and what is the most important: do not forget checking it. To conclude, I wish to everybody be serious. Time is gold and we need to care about it . I advice to all: manage your time right and you will get a great success in the future

Entry 8: The American Civil War in eyes of Sherman

One of the most important things you do before starting something it is when you're asking yourself:" Won't I regret about it in the future?” May be I’m not a good philosopher, but I’m absolutely sure that most of you would think in a same way before taking part in a war. Since my childhood I was surrounded by people who made a great influence on my destiny: my father ,Charles Robert Sherman, who was a successful lawyer, my brother John who served as a U.S senator and Cabinet secretary . So I decided to continue a family tradition and entered the academy for cadets. As I had written later in my memoirs: “I’ve never been a good and obeying student…” There I met my future military companions George H. Thomas and William Rosecrans. They were really nice friends and partners. After graduating from the academy in 1840 I decided to continue my military abilities and worked as a 2-nd lieutenant. After that there happened many things: I was promoted to a captain in 1848, got married to Eleanor Boyle ("Ellen") Ewing in 1850, a wonderful and intelligent woman, and worked as a manager and the superintendent till 1859. However, I think that the turning point in my life happened in 1861 when the lives of many people were changed. The war was something like that no one was expecting it to last so long. Those meetings to President Lincoln, discussions and arguing to other generals about the war strategy were very hectic and nervous period. General Grant, my best friend and vise estratega, supported my ideas about the attacking Confederates from back side. The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain in 1864 was the most memorable moments o all during this horrible war time. My foe, General Joseph E. Johnston , had an army of 100,000 people but it couldn’t save him from the maneuvers that I made in help of Gen. Mc.Pherson, Gen. Logan and Thomas. At the end of the war in 1865 we all felt like the our life was changed for better. Everyone had equal rights, no one needed to be depended on his master. We did our best and won….
Taking part in this activity was a real important thing. Now I understand everything about this period of American history. My character Sherman was a great man: lawyer, businessman and a general. His life and victories deserve more than just a mention in the book of world history. I think he is a great person that will live in hearts of all people for a long time.

Entery 7: The Lanuage of Study

Enrolling in the UWL was rather hard and nerveous period. The time passed and I found out that I was a person who would pay for the tution. I was really got sad. I talked over about it with my mother and tried to convince her that I could pass another exams next year, However, I have failed my try. Now I;m studying here and I'm so glad that I left out my plans about the next year))) Firstly, I'm studying in the IELTE. This is a special program that works by the American system. Our marks are built on grades. Also we get A-s, B-s and C-s. That makes us  to understand  our mistakes and not make them next time.Secondly, we switch on our attention to every subject. Each lesson here is major and I cannot say exactly which one gives me more opportunity to develope myself. Writing  helps me to creat good essays, Vocabulary gives thesises and words. Also, we have to type up our works and they have their deadlines. We need to hand them in on  time in order not to get bad degrees. Finally, our tutorials are very intellegent people. Our lessons are usually based on the English language . Even when we listen to them, we try to analyze everything in English and not let down our teachers groupmates and ourselves. To coclude, I like this place. Campus, students, seminars, lectures-everything is great! I'm so happy that I'm studying here. When the time comes and I'll graduate from the UWL I will come back here, but only as a teacher;))))

Entry 6: Note taking experience

Note taking is a process that is usually used to gather the main information and then use it in order to review or revise it. But what we realy know about it? Only a few students know that there are many ways of manipulating the information that was given and how to orgonize it.I was one of the students who were out of that list.I was  really surprised when Mrs. Shahnoza demonstrated us different types of note taking. It was really cool! I learned such names of diagrama like Table organizer that looked like a table  with many legs, or Cause and Effect that consisted of two rectangles and several triangles in th space between them. However, several diagrams I knew very well. They were Vena diagram and  Web. I knew them since I was studying at school. They were really useful in Literature classes.I also knew Time table which was relly helpful in remembering the dates and events. To conclude, I think it is really useful thing to take notes. The more you take them the better your memory is working. So,I advice you to find your own method of note taking and develope your memory.

Entry 5:Advantages and disadvantages of Tape recording

When  you are having a lecture or seminar, it is very important to take all information that you hear, because it can be useful in preraring for the tests and passing exams. Many students use such way of note taking as tape recording.  While you are sitting at the desk your tape recorder takes all information. Some additional material can also be taken  on the tape and can be useful in remembering and revising. Also, when you are sitting at home you can regulate the volume of the sound  and listen to the voice of the teacher as many times as you like. To add, when you're making a presentation you can take the information that the teacher have said and use it in your work as the additional material. However, sometimes this kind of  note taking can cause many problems. If the lecture room is a very noisy place, lots of sounds will spoil your records. Also, when you're taking tape records your attention falls on everything: your friends, mobile phone, but not on the lecture. Some students forget about the important eye contact and just not concentrate on what they realy need. And it is very bad! To  finish, I'd like to give a piece of advice to the students :be very careful in taking notes in that way. Don't forget about your own memory! Ba attentive and develope your memory and in the future you'll have a big success.

Entery 4: My Goals and Objectives

Since I was 12 years old I has been dreaming of going to Spain.Such a great love to this country made me think of taking the second language.Learning Spanish is the main goal that I have chosen and that I'm going to reach at any cost.I clearely understand that it will not be easy to take the second language especially when you are already studying one at the university. However, there is nothing impossible, especially when you are anxious to take it.In order to get start I began to visit language courses in different language centres.Among all of them I have chosen the training centre UniForum. Here I had got everything I needed:a live practice, developing of the skills of my learning style and even talking to the real spanish people. However,I don't think that it will be enough for me to visit this courses. In order to get the resut that I really need I read different books every day, listen to Spanish songs  and learn by heart new words. These courses have given me the garenty that at the end of 2010 I will have enough knowledge to practice on my own.Although I don't think that 4 months will be enough to learn the correct pronounciation or to learn all the grammar.I think I will neeed at least 2 years in order to be ready to speak and think free in Spanish. Now, all I have to do is to continue my practice and not to give up and as it was said in one cartoon :"Just keep going forward".

Entery 3:My Study Habits and Learning Style

When I was a little girl I didn't like to watch how my parents explained to me different things. They were very angry with me when I just put my eyes down and  listned to them like this.Although, even when I didn't look at them I could understand them better than if they were trying to show me something.Inspite of all I listened to them very attentively and always surprised them with my ability to remember what they had told me.My talent also surprised my class mates at school times. Our teacher liked to read us different poems before we needed to learn them by heart.I listened to her voice and spelled every sentence by myself. After I came back home all I needed to do is to read the poem again. The same thing happened to me when I watched cartoons and films on TV.When I listened to monologues of heroes I could retell the story or the plot of the film to anyone who had never  seen this film before. It also helped me in studying words and idioms.About 65% of what I know today is coming from everything I have heard on TV,listened to the music and radio programs.I thought that this was somekind of talent, but the secret was hiding in another meaning of it.After passing exam of learning style I found out that this is my way of taking the information.I recomend to all take part in training of this kind of learning style, aspecially to those who play different musical instruments.

Entery 2:Debate on Mouse vs Touch Screen

Today's generation always has good feelings to something new. When the world met I-phones,modiles without buttons they impressed each and everyone. Every 3-rd person finds this kind of 'touching' very comfortable. You don't need to push buttons in order to dial the number.Your finger is your own cursor that will help you to open the folderor or to maximize the picture. These gadgets are small computers that don't need mouses with lots of wiers in which anyone can easely get confused. On the other hand, touchscreens have also their disadvantages. At winter time it is quiet impossible to do something on your I-phone when you are in the street. The sensor monitor don't work good when the temperature is low.Another thing is mouse. It has no temperature limits and it also can be easely controled by your own hand.It combines in itself lots of functions. It is also a good thing for people who have problems with their eyes. Also, mouse can help people to work with their hand and keep it in a good and working form.To conclude, everyone can choose what he or she likes. As for me,I was always for the new thechnologies.Although I want them to be clear and good and what is the most important easy in use.

Entery 1:My First Impressions and Expectations

At first when I heard about the IELTE program I thought that it could be a nice chance for me to test my language skills. The first exam was a real 'top nut'.Everything seemed to be so difficult and unusual that I had already  wanted to run away from the auditorium.Although I didn't give up and continued my way for the better life.Every day on the big brake, after my classes in fillology and even before them I was waiting for the results.Nothing could stop me from thinking of  what I would do if I didn't pass it.After few days of expectations and insomnias I was really happy to see my name in the list of those who passed the first exam. The second one was much easier than I thought  but I was still worried for the decision of teachers and hoped inside that I won't fail such a big work that I had done. Finally,I did it...I was so happy that I have already burst into tears.Next week we said good bye to all guys from filology and entered a new life. And it was rather interesting.First of all,I have met many guys which passed exams with me.Most of them became my group mates and some of them are even my best friends.Secondly,we speak only English.During the breakes,in the streets and even in the canteen.Every hour spended in class or in the building reminds me the film about the university life.We discuss everything:traditions, homework, relations and sometimes even teachers:))It is really awesome!I have met really talented  and very active people. Our teachers give us lots of home work but even if we are not ready we always try to think fast and solve such kinds of problems.Usually we make it very good and noone has complained yet))))))This IELTE program also taught us to be together as a big family. We have become as the one tream which do not separate us and moreover helps us to know each other better and better.Talking and discussing something new gives us the oportunity to be active during the lessons.Teachers always find the way to help us if we don't understand something. However and unfortunatley, it dosen't work when we have QIZes))))I hope that in the future my skills will be so great that the QUIZ in any subject won't seem for me too difficult.I also hope that after graduating from IELTE I will be a well educated  person  that can always have its loaf of bread that is covered by tasty slice of jam)))
