Entery 9: Time management problems

Many students all over the world face a problem called "time management". Writing essays, doing home works and preparing yourselves for the QUIZ-es makes teenagers very devastated and unable to work. They spend lots of time doing multiple exercises or doing nothing at all, and after that they realize that they had not prepared themselves for the Mid-term. AAAAAA! This would be the 1-st thing that you hear. The point is that most of us do not know how to manage our time. Lots of work can confuse us and take our attention from what is really important to do in the closest future time. For example, if you have a Quiz for Linguistics on Monday, you should practice every day for at least 15 minutes to remember the terminus, sequences of the phrases and you will be well prepared. Also, making weekly calendar with daily calendar can teach you to manage your time in preparing for something important like presentation. To add, checklists could be useful in marking of what you have done and what you need to do. Also, if you’re making a presentation, try not to do everything in a rush. Gather it, organize it and what is the most important: do not forget checking it. To conclude, I wish to everybody be serious. Time is gold and we need to care about it . I advice to all: manage your time right and you will get a great success in the future

Entry 8: The American Civil War in eyes of Sherman

One of the most important things you do before starting something it is when you're asking yourself:" Won't I regret about it in the future?” May be I’m not a good philosopher, but I’m absolutely sure that most of you would think in a same way before taking part in a war. Since my childhood I was surrounded by people who made a great influence on my destiny: my father ,Charles Robert Sherman, who was a successful lawyer, my brother John who served as a U.S senator and Cabinet secretary . So I decided to continue a family tradition and entered the academy for cadets. As I had written later in my memoirs: “I’ve never been a good and obeying student…” There I met my future military companions George H. Thomas and William Rosecrans. They were really nice friends and partners. After graduating from the academy in 1840 I decided to continue my military abilities and worked as a 2-nd lieutenant. After that there happened many things: I was promoted to a captain in 1848, got married to Eleanor Boyle ("Ellen") Ewing in 1850, a wonderful and intelligent woman, and worked as a manager and the superintendent till 1859. However, I think that the turning point in my life happened in 1861 when the lives of many people were changed. The war was something like that no one was expecting it to last so long. Those meetings to President Lincoln, discussions and arguing to other generals about the war strategy were very hectic and nervous period. General Grant, my best friend and vise estratega, supported my ideas about the attacking Confederates from back side. The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain in 1864 was the most memorable moments o all during this horrible war time. My foe, General Joseph E. Johnston , had an army of 100,000 people but it couldn’t save him from the maneuvers that I made in help of Gen. Mc.Pherson, Gen. Logan and Thomas. At the end of the war in 1865 we all felt like the our life was changed for better. Everyone had equal rights, no one needed to be depended on his master. We did our best and won….
Taking part in this activity was a real important thing. Now I understand everything about this period of American history. My character Sherman was a great man: lawyer, businessman and a general. His life and victories deserve more than just a mention in the book of world history. I think he is a great person that will live in hearts of all people for a long time.

Entery 7: The Lanuage of Study

Enrolling in the UWL was rather hard and nerveous period. The time passed and I found out that I was a person who would pay for the tution. I was really got sad. I talked over about it with my mother and tried to convince her that I could pass another exams next year, However, I have failed my try. Now I;m studying here and I'm so glad that I left out my plans about the next year))) Firstly, I'm studying in the IELTE. This is a special program that works by the American system. Our marks are built on grades. Also we get A-s, B-s and C-s. That makes us  to understand  our mistakes and not make them next time.Secondly, we switch on our attention to every subject. Each lesson here is major and I cannot say exactly which one gives me more opportunity to develope myself. Writing  helps me to creat good essays, Vocabulary gives thesises and words. Also, we have to type up our works and they have their deadlines. We need to hand them in on  time in order not to get bad degrees. Finally, our tutorials are very intellegent people. Our lessons are usually based on the English language . Even when we listen to them, we try to analyze everything in English and not let down our teachers groupmates and ourselves. To coclude, I like this place. Campus, students, seminars, lectures-everything is great! I'm so happy that I'm studying here. When the time comes and I'll graduate from the UWL I will come back here, but only as a teacher;))))

Entry 6: Note taking experience

Note taking is a process that is usually used to gather the main information and then use it in order to review or revise it. But what we realy know about it? Only a few students know that there are many ways of manipulating the information that was given and how to orgonize it.I was one of the students who were out of that list.I was  really surprised when Mrs. Shahnoza demonstrated us different types of note taking. It was really cool! I learned such names of diagrama like Table organizer that looked like a table  with many legs, or Cause and Effect that consisted of two rectangles and several triangles in th space between them. However, several diagrams I knew very well. They were Vena diagram and  Web. I knew them since I was studying at school. They were really useful in Literature classes.I also knew Time table which was relly helpful in remembering the dates and events. To conclude, I think it is really useful thing to take notes. The more you take them the better your memory is working. So,I advice you to find your own method of note taking and develope your memory.

Entry 5:Advantages and disadvantages of Tape recording

When  you are having a lecture or seminar, it is very important to take all information that you hear, because it can be useful in preraring for the tests and passing exams. Many students use such way of note taking as tape recording.  While you are sitting at the desk your tape recorder takes all information. Some additional material can also be taken  on the tape and can be useful in remembering and revising. Also, when you are sitting at home you can regulate the volume of the sound  and listen to the voice of the teacher as many times as you like. To add, when you're making a presentation you can take the information that the teacher have said and use it in your work as the additional material. However, sometimes this kind of  note taking can cause many problems. If the lecture room is a very noisy place, lots of sounds will spoil your records. Also, when you're taking tape records your attention falls on everything: your friends, mobile phone, but not on the lecture. Some students forget about the important eye contact and just not concentrate on what they realy need. And it is very bad! To  finish, I'd like to give a piece of advice to the students :be very careful in taking notes in that way. Don't forget about your own memory! Ba attentive and develope your memory and in the future you'll have a big success.
